This is a constant source of complaint from clients and community and I think that there is no good reason to grant VIEW by default. To the portlet sure... but not to model-resources.

Granting VIEW to Guest is usually the "special case" not the common one.

Anyone disagree?

Sounds fine to me. I won't backport this so it'll only be for 5.2.x.

Hey Ray,

Sounds good to me too, but it's something that has to be documented clearly in the release notes. What do you think of creating a wiki page for the release notes of 5.2 where we can start adding this kind of stuff?
