Ability to delete portal instances

Description

Hello,

we're using Liferay in a K-12 school network and would like to add additional portals to our Liferay installation using the "Portal Instance" feature. Unfortunately those instances would only be relevant for a given school year and we would therefore need a way to disable or even better delete a portal instance once it's obsolete.

Unless I missed a thing, I can't see and reasonable way to delete a portal instance. Is there any documentation (even if it implies using SQL commands) to delete a portal instance when it's no longer needed.

I am surprised that this feature hasn't been implemented or requested yet. I think it is very important and would be greatly appreciated.

Environment

Liferay 6.0.5 on Tomcat, Mac OS X 10.6.5

Hi Jorge,

thanks for the feedback. I agree that deleting the data related to a portal instance won't be an easy task and therefore, disabling the instance would be a nice starting point. This will leave enough time to work on a delete feature for a much later release.

So, yes, please go ahead and implement the disable feature for now.

Thanks,

Alex
