Steps to reproduce:

1) Go to Control Panel
2) Click Authentication / LDAP
3) Add a new server
4) Add data (doesn't matter what)
5) Click on Test LDAP connection button

with Liferay Portal 5.2.3 same credentials i can connect, with 606 CE i see this in the logs, no errors and UI keeps say loading ...

if try with wrong credentials i see exceptions in the logs but still nothing in UI

Have you had the opportunity to download the latest 6.1 CE and verify if this is still an ongoing issue? There are hundreds of fixes between CE releases but I can update the affected version if you are able to verify its status.. You can get the latest version of Liferay Portalat http://www.liferay.com/downloads/liferay-portal/available-releases. If the issue cannot be reproduced in the latest 6.1 release, the issue will be closed in order to keep JIRA up-to-date.
