If you set the UserPrefs for a gadget through the portlet's configuration page, the settings will only work sometimes. The values are always stored correctly in the database, but at the render time of the gadget, the preferences aren't always the ones stored in the database.

Hitting refresh intermittently updates it with the correct value, but doesn't always work.
