Here are the steps to reproduce the issue:
1. Add Calendar portlet
2. Add a Calendar event; set the event to repeat monthly or yearly with the first option selected ("Day _ of every _ month(s)" or "Every _ of every _ year(s)")
3. Save
4. The user will see a success message and the event will be created. But several of the portlet's display features will malfunction. An example would be that the calendar display in the summary tab will no longer be visible. Also, if a page has other portlets in addition to the calendar portlet, clicking some of the other tabs will cause the other portlets to display within the calendar portlet.
5. The user will also see an exception.
