Having security enabled for basic service builder portlet (http://svn.liferay.com/repos/public/plugins/branches/6.1.x/portlets/sample-service-builder-portlet/) will help to understand (on very good sample) how to enable security for own portlets used service-builder, search-container and other standard things.
