Reselecting current date in the datepicker, after deleting it from the input field, will result into a blank date

1)Highlight today's date(that`s the default value) (CTRL+A) and blank it out (Backspace): date will become: mm/dd/yyyy
2)A calendar pop-up window should be opened already: select today's date into it

Expected: The date in the "Display date" field to become today's date
Actual behavior: the date will stay as mm/dd/yyyy. After choosing another date (e.g. tomorrow's), today's date will also work
