The JSF Showcase was designed when the only deployment option was "thick" WARs, meaning WAR modules that embed all necessary JSF dependencies in WEB-INF/lib.
Now that "thin" WAR deployments are an option, it is possible to deploy a thin version of the jsf-applicant-portlet to Pluto 3.x. However, there is a bug in the showcase-common module such that it excludes the "Portlet" category because it detects the presence of Liferay Faces Alloy. The reason why it excludes it, is because it assumes that the showcase-common module is embedded in the alloy-showcase-portlet. It does not take into account the new Pluto 3.x possibility of having com.liferay.faces.alloy.jar live in $PLUTO_HOME/tomcat/lib (the global classpath).
1. Deploy the jsf-showcase-portlet (5.x branch) to Apache Pluto 3.x
2. Visit the following URL: http://localhost:9080/pluto/portal/jsf-showcase
The Showcase contains the "Portlet" category with the following four options:
The "Portlet" category is missing.
