    Description

Google created some time ago a protocol called the Sitemaps protocol (http://www.sitemaps.org) to allow webmasters to tell its crawler information about the site pages. This will help it crawl the site better and increase the site PageRank. Afterwards Yahoo, and lately MSN have joined the protocol committee.

I suggest implementing the sitemap automatically for all community websites created with Liferay. It could work as a servlet such that /sitemap?plid=PRI.25 or /sitemap/web/guests will serve the sitemap for that website. A form in the "Page settings" admin page will allow the webmaster to add additional information supported by the protocol.

A nice add on would be adding a button or set of buttons to allow webmasters to ping the most important search engines.
