The Portal Poller (used primarily by the Chat portlet) may cause the application server to lock up. PollerServlet consumes an app server worker thread when it receives poller requests. If a portlet fails to respond or takes too long, this could potentially lock up the entire application server and lead to an unresponsive portal.
