removeProtocol method in httpImpl class removes "http://////" from an input of "http://////foo.com", where "http://////" is not a protocol

    Details

    • Fix Pack Status:
      Scheduled

      Description

removeProtocol() handles some invalid inputs, such as http://///foo.com, as valid inputs. However, it returns foo.com, removing both the http: and the forward slashes.

The slashes in http:///// are not a part of the protocol, see the explanation here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/URL#Syntax

The Java URI class treats http://////foo.com as valid input, and returns ////foo.com. Therefore removeProtocol() should also return ////foo.com.
