In Liferay DXP 7.2, DXP 7.1, and DXP 7.0, users can update their password via JSONWS without supplying their current password. An attacker can exploit this to modify a user password by leveraging XSS, session hijacking, an unattended workstation or other vectors.
Additional Information
The /user/update-password JSONWS endpoint has been disabled through the jsonws.web.service.paths.excludes portal property. You need to re-enable it if you have components relying on that service.
