Basic search in Web Content Display gives irrelevant results

Basic search in the portlet configuration section of Web Content Display (or Journal Content in 5.1) returns irrelevant results. Specifically, if a "type" is selected in the advance search, that type will be used even if the user switches to basic search. Because of this, the search result will contain all articles matching the selected type even if the article is not relevant.
