Liferay.com uses Asset Publisher to display Whitepapers, Case Studies, and for filtering assets, we customized Asset Publisher to enable full-text search. However, it could be a common use case to use Asset Publisher and Search for reasons below:

• A user wants to filter assets to find out assets to match their interest.
• A site administrator wants to have more flexibility to customize the look and feel of the asset list to match the site theme. (Search Result portlet does not have ADT)

Also, we are considering to use the search + Asset Publisher for Resouce Library on Liferay.co.jp as well. The page is below:
