      Description

      Description

Currently, Web Sites can only have one virtual host configured for its public or private pages- "www.example.com", but it is very common to have web sites registered under different domains, for example when the site is translated to different languages and has a different domain for each one, or in cases where it is needed to have an internal and external domain.

      Context

This feature has been requested multiple times by different customers: https://issues.liferay.com/browse/LPS-44217

The workaround they have available is to have a reverse proxy that rewrites all the requests and responses

      Features to consider

      • Be able to set multiple virtual hosts per site
        • Establish the default domain (for canonical URL management, for example)
      • Be able to set a virtual host per language (define multiple domains for a language? define multiple languages for a domain)
        • If set, should all other domains 404 for that given language? being still available? redirect to that virtual host language? (for redirections or 404, 301 should be the way to go)
          • In case of the first, the canonical url should point to the default domain. In the second, it should point to the localized domain.
