In IFI-1322 - Define variables to make a significant design change in content pages and widget pages we worked out a set of variables that allow signifcant style changes in Content Pages.

However, in there we also realized that the newly generated Apps from AppBuilder don't really respond to them. 

The goal of this spike is to analyze App Builder Applications and discover what's missing for them to be able to work well with our Custom Properties variables.

Acceptance Criteria:
