Users are missing after reindexing individual entity types on Solr 7

    Details

      Description

      Works with Elasticsearch

      1. Download, install, and configure Solr 7.5 per Installing Solr: Basic Installation with 7.2
      2. Create multiple pieces of web content, documents, and users
      3. Perform a reindex of all search indexes: Control Panel -> Configuration -> Search; execute Reindex all search indexes
      • Results:
        a) In Liferay UI, received the green "Success" popup almost immediately after executing the reindex
        b) In Solr logs, messages are being updated in the logs continuously until the reindex was complete; once completed, the updates stopped
        c) On the Solr Admin page, during the reindex, the Master (Searching) size continuously changing with every refresh of the page, until the Solr logging stops. Once the reindex is complete (logging stops updating), the "Current" statistic changes to a green checkmark and the size no longer updates (in my tests, the index size was 552.25 KB).
        d) There are no updates in the Liferay logs
        e) Search successfully will find the pieces of web content and documents; going to Control Panel -> Users -> Users and Organizations, all users are visible

      Part Two:
      4. Perform a reindex of com.liferay.document.library.kernel.model.DLFileEntry

      • Results:
        a) In Liferay UI, received the green "Success" popup almost immediately after executing the reindex
        b) In Solr logs, messages are being updated quickly
        c) On the Solr Admin page, the Master (Searching) size changes to a small value (in my tests, the index size was 44.84 KB).
        d) There are no updates in the Liferay logs
        e) Search would only find the documents (no web content); going to Control Panel -> Users -> Users and Organizations, no users were visible

      Part Three:
      5. Perform a reindex of com.liferay.journal.model.JournalArticle

      • Results:
        a) In Liferay UI, received the green "Success" popup almost immediately after executing the reindex
        b) In Solr logs, messages are being updated quickly
        c) On the Solr Admin page, the Master (Searching) size changes to a small value (in my tests, the index size was 27.98 KB).
        d) There are no updates in the Liferay logs
        e) Search would only find the web content (no documents); going to Control Panel -> Users -> Users and Organizations, no users were visible

      Part Four:
      6. Perform a reindex of com.liferay.portal.kernel.model.Organization

      • Results:
        a) In Liferay UI, received the green "Success" popup almost immediately after executing the reindex
        b) In Solr logs, messages are being updated quickly
        c) On the Solr Admin page, the Master (Searching) size changes to a small value (in my tests, the index size was 138 bytes).
        d) There are no updates in the Liferay logs
        e) Search would find no assets (no web content or documents); going to Control Panel -> Users -> Users and Organizations, no users were visible

      Part Five:
      7. Perform a reindex of all search indexes

      • Results:
        a) In Liferay UI, received the green "Success" popup almost immediately after executing the reindex
        b) In Solr logs, messages are being updated in the logs continuously until the reindex was complete; once completed, the updates stopped
        c) On the Solr Admin page, during the reindex, the Master (Searching) size continuously changing with every refresh of the page, until the Solr logging stops. Once the reindex is complete (logging stops updating), the "Current" statistic changes to a green checkmark and the size no longer updates (in my tests, the index size was 528.83 KB).
        d) There are no updates in the Liferay logs
        e) Search successfully will find the pieces of web content and documents; going to Control Panel -> Users -> Users and Organizations, all users are visible

Expected Results: After the first reindex all searches should find all assets.
