Create Configuration Item To Allow Widget Titles To Be Displayed In Widgets on Content Pages

    Details

      Description

      It's still not possible to display a web content title in a WCD on a content page.  There is a huge gap created by the "Edit Web Content Menu" ellipsis where by a portlet title is normally placed into that gap. The gap is huge and it's not acceptable to  not be able to fill that gap with a web content article title.

      However web content titles are allowed on widget pages (please let's keep it that way)

      This ticket aims to provide a way forward.

      Please provide an option in Look and Feel XML in the theme's WEB-INF (liferay-look-and-feel.xml) and Template (init_custom.ftl) directory so that users can choose to display or hide titles. Some users won't want titles, some will, it's not right to only cater to one set of users.

      Here's an example of what the code could be

      Init_custom.ftl

      show_portlet_titles = getterUtil.getBoolean(theme_settings["Show Portlet Titles"]!"", true)

      liferay-look-and-feel.xml

      <setting configurable="true" key="Show Portlet Titles" type="checkbox" />

      portal_normal.ftl

      <#if show_portlet_titles><style>/* [+] YES PORTLET HEADERS BY DEFAULT */ </style></#if>

      portlet.ftl ... bring back this code in content pages please

      <#if show_portlet_titles><h2 class="portlet-title-text">${portlet_title}</h2></#if>

      This is a way to provide titles to users who want them while giving the option to those who don;t to have them hidden, please think of the bigger picture!!

      Please don't mark this as won't fix, we use portlet titles and we need portlet titles restoring. Please make Liferay feature complete. Please make this simple change so that there are no longer huge gaps at the top of content widgets in content pages. Thank you again. No really, thank you. Please let's get this done and move forwards.

      Look and Feel ROCKS, please don't remove look and feel.
