Use same/similar filter interface for Asset Publisher and RSS feed generation.

    Details

      Description

The Asset Publisher query interface has been well extended in 6.0, using Tags, Categories, Scopes, Asset Types etc.

The same functionality would make a lot of sense for the RSS Feed generation (in the Content / WebContent section in ControlPanel), which currently only takes Web Content Articles, filtered by their type. No Tags etc. .

Even though Asset Publisher also provides an RSS feed for the content defined there, RSS feeds still have their own interface and don't require a page with content on them.

Proposed implementation is to "just" unify the "Configuration" section used in Asset Publisher to be used in RSS feeds also.

I guess this calls for taking Feeds out of WebContent where it currently is and have it work for all kinds of assets - basically just what AssetPublisher does.

Makes sense to me. The hardest part is where would that configuration be.

Should we create a new entry in the Control Panel called "Asset Lists" where the lists are configured and have Asset Publisher and maybe a new RSS Publisher portlet use it instead of our current approach?

Removing myself as assignee to allow others to work on it.

In preparation for Ideation; we are merging New Feature and Improvement tickets into a singular ticket type called “Feature Request”. Additional information to follow soon.
