      Description

      Issue

With the present implementation, when an author publishes a Web Content article which includes a URL, validation is only performed to check whether the URL is a local or non-local hostname or IP address. If, however, an invalid link is entered (e.g. h ttp://life ray.c_om--notice the invalid use of spaces or special characters in the protocol and the hostname), the article can still be successfully published without any warning notification to the user.

      Request

The user experience could be improved if users were given more feedback from the application when publishing content.

By processing links within the HTML fields against user-customizable RegEx strings, the author could then be prompted by Liferay to make the required corrections to invalid links:

      Example User Notifications:

      1. <quoted user URL> appears to be invalid
      2. <quoted user URL> link contains illegal characters
      3. Malformed link in content field detected. Do you still wish to publish? [Yes] [No]
