Some context

Content Dashboard Items can be filtered by many criteria.

When we faced the implementation of item type criterion (former known as subtype) and file extension criterion (when documents were added to the CB), we were challenged to improve the human interaction experience (HIX, a new term). And this also lead us to improve the frontend code.

As you can read (and test live in a DXP portal) the filtering UI frontend of type/extension Content Dashboard Item is slightly different from the CDI standard CategoriesSelection modal, and the overall behaviour has been tuned to meet the HIX requirements.

The job

We should re-create or adapt the current categories selection modal, and use the new frontend reusable components and styles, if possible.
