I was able to reproduce this problem using a vanilla Liferay 5.2 EE SP5 (5.2.9):
Steps to reproduce:
1. View the Calendar portlet
2. Click on Add Event
3. For the Start Date field, enter "July 11, 2011"
4. Click checkbox for "All Day Event"
5. Enter "TEST BIRTHDAY" as the title for the event
6. Select type as "Birthday" (this step may be irrelevant)
7. In the "Repeat" section, click on the "Yearly" radio button
8. Click on the "Every" radio button
9. In the "Every" section, enter "July 11" of every 1 years
10. Click on the Save button
The event should appear properly on July 11 of 2011 in the Calendar portlet.
Next Steps:
11. Click on the "Events" tab in the Calendar portlet so that you can see a listing of events.
12. Find the "TEST BIRTHDAY" event in the list
13. From the Actions Menu, click on the Edit icon for "TEST BIRTHDAY"
If the bug still exists, then the "Every" section should show "January 15" instead of "July 11"
