      Description

At present, there are six storage mechanisms in Liferay:

      • AdvancedFileSystemStore
      • CMISStore
      • DBStore
      • FileSystemStore
      • JCRStore
      • S3Store

As of 6.1, DBStore has provided an alternative to the clusterability value added by using CMISStore and JCRStore. Hence, both of these latter stores can easily be deprecated and migrated to an alternative mechanism.

Moreover, due to LPS-25312, both FileSystemStore and AdvancedFileSystemStore risk concerns in scalability and need an overall refactor. Ultimately, only three storage mechanisms are necessary in Liferay:

      • FileSystemStore+
      • DBStore
      • S3Store

Using the CMIS store is not just about solving clustering issues but sometimes the only option to interface with external repos like Alfresco or Sharepoint. I hope you are not planning to drop CMIS support.

CMISStore has been superseded by CMIS Repository which actually allows you to read documents in the remote repository. In CMISStore if the document wasn't uploaded through Liferay it wasn't visible.
