steps to reproduce (tested in 6.1.10):

1. enable social activity (Control Panel -> Social Activity -> [check boxes for Blog]
2. add a blog portlet to the page and add a new blog entry
3. shutdown portal.
4. change the date on the machine at least 1 month into the future (to make sure you are in a new social activity "period", since the default period is 1 month)
5. startup portal
6. add a new blog entry. the code will try and add a new SocialActivityCounter entry and will break with the attached stack trace

The example above is for Blogs but this can be done with anything that gives social activity points (message boards, wiki, comments)
