Directory portlet cannot search by email address

Steps to reproduce:

1. Add Directory portlet
2. Add User with:
   • Screen name: usersn
   • Email address: [email protected]
   • First name: userfn
   • Last Name: userln
   • create a password for it
3. Navigate to Directory portlet and search in Users tab for the corresponding fields entered in the Add User steps.

If any of the search fields are correct, the created user will appear (1st screenshot). But if the email is searched for by itself (2nd screenshot) or with any combination of first, last, or screen name (3rd screenshot), it will return all users. The email search field is broken. No exceptions occurred.
