When Blog Portlet Display Style is set to "Abstract", emoticons in the first line of text does not display

ISSUE: When Blog Portlet Display Style is set to "Abstract", emoticons in the first line of text do not display. When display style is set to "Full Content" they do display.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1. Go to the Blogs portlet and click on the configuration wrench.
2. Click on "Display Settings" tab and select "Abstract" as the Display Style type. Save the change.
3. Add a blog entry to include an emoticon in the first line of text and Save. The Blog will appear in the Abstract format, but the emoticon is not visible.
4. Click on the "Read more >>" link. The emoticon is visible.
