There are many situations where users should not be allowed to search other users and see their contact information. There should be a way for users to opt-out of these searches. Because of FERPA, this is very important for Higher Education customers.
1. At the portal level, an admin should be able to configure the default behavior (in or out of search) for all users and determine if users can 'opt-out' of the search.
2. If allowed by an admin and depending on the default, users should be able to opt out or opt in to the search
3. Would be nice to let users select which pieces of contact info (phone, email, IM, etc.) will be visible.
4.. These settings should be honored by the Search Portlet and by the Directory Portlet or any other portlet that searches for users or shows any contact informaiton for users.
