That solution is not enough. A manual order needs to be developed on asset categories admin portlet in order to be more flexible.

Categories could be ordered using drag and drop on the admin portlet, in the same way as layouts.

A simple use cases that we have illustrating why order by creation date isn’t enough:

        1. Create a vocabulary with about 20 category in it.
        2. Let authors categorize content with it for a few months
        3. get a request to add a new category in 6 position in that vocabulary
        4. ?!?!? We can’t do date at the moment.

If it’s ordered by creation date, the new categories are obviously added at the end, which is not what we want in some/most case.
