Timed out session - difficult to find sign in portlet

1. Log in as admin
2. Wait until session is timed out
3. Select the Add menu for the page

Results: The Add menu will not appear and the following message appear: "Please sign in to continue." However, when user still sees itself as logged in, as the user name icon drop down will show a Sign Out link and not a Sign In link.

User will have to refresh page to find a sign in portlet.
