Note: this is also reproducible on portal 7.0 M7

Steps to reproduce:

1. Add a Structure with a Date field
2. Add a Template based on the Structure
3. Add a WC article based on that Structure
4. Try to Publish without providing something in the Date field

Expected result:
Article will publish without selecting a Date in the Date field.

Actual result:
The Date field highlights in red, as the WC editor treats it like it's a Required field, though it is not.
