Steps to reproduce

1. Go to Content > Documents and Media
2. Add basic document
3. Navigate to added document
4. Click Checkout
5. Assert that your request completed successfully
6. Navigate back to Documents and Media
7. Select the same document
8. Click on the check out icon

Expected Result
User should not be able to check out a document that's already been checked out

Actual Result
Success message "Your request completed successfully" appears

This is the same with checked in items.

Tomcat 7.0.62 + MySQL 5.6.
