SAML metadata certificate problem

Saml plugin 2.0 version 3.0.0

We are trying to connect with the new SAML plugin for Liferay 7 to an Identity Provider (IdP). Liferay, as Service Provider, generates a metadata.xml. The IdP we are connecting to cannot read in this xml file, because the Certificate contains spaces. If you download the certificate, there are no spaces (as expected), however, in the metadata there are.
As an example, see attached metadata.

If we can not fix this, we can not connect to the IdP. I can't find any info on this online. Is there a way to get rid of these spaces in the metadata?
