As a Portal Administrator I want to hide sections in some particular forms or reorganize them

    Details

      Description

      Motive

There are some forms in Liferay Portal that are organized with several categories and each of them might contain several sections. This is implemented using the <form-navigator> taglib which is responsible of the rendering of the sections and categories of the form.

In Liferay 6.2, the portal administrator could decide which sections where displayed configuring it via portal.properties file. He could hide a section from a particular category by removing it from the list of available sections. He could even move a section and display it in a different category by removing the section from one category and including it in another category.

This changed in Liferay 7 because now each of the sections and categories are OSGi Components. Then, in order to hide a particular section the component needed to be deactivated. This is particularly painful because the state of the component is not persisted, so every time the server is restarted the component needs to be stopped again.
This seems more complicated (specially compared with 6.2 where it was as easy as removing/adding the entry in the list of available sections). The aim of this story is to facilitate the management of those sections, supporting to hide, reorder or move it to a different category as if it was configurable via a User Interface.

      Acceptance criteria

      • Portal Administrators should be able to hide a particular section of a particular form via a User Interface. This also includes the context of the action (for example, the portal administrator should be able to hide the section only when adding, updating or both)
      • Portal Administrators should be able to change the order the sections are displayed in a particular form via a User Interface. This also includes the context of the action (for example, the portal administrator should be able to change the order only when adding, updating or both)
      • Portal Administrators should be able to display sections in a different category that they were originally displayed via a User Interface.
