Ensure that adaptive images have the appropriate orientation reading the exif value and manipulating the generated image if necessary

    Details

      Description

      Motive

Some images might appear incorrectly because they are rotated 90 degrees when displayed in the browser. This happens with some smartphones because they stored the information about the orientation value in exif metadata as part of the image.

However, browsers don't interpret this information and the image is rendered rotated not allowing the user to properly see the image.

The aim of this story is to fix this issue so when one of this images is uploaded, we will read the exif metadata and, if necessary, we will manipulate the image by rotating it to ensure that the image will be properly displayed.

      Acceptance Criteria

      • Images that store the rotation value as exif metadata are properly rendered by the browser (An attachment with an image like this has been uploaded to this ticket).
