Calendar end date will change to a far future time if invalid date given

Steps to reproduce:

1. Add a calendar portlet to the page.
2. Click Add event.
3. Under the Ends, enter "9999".
4. Click publish.

Expected result:
You cannot publish this event because the end date is not correct.

Actual result:
The event is published, the ends date change to strange date.
