Currently it's possible to create page templates using widgets in the Global scope and page templates using Content Pages per site. The reason for this is historical, but it would be useful to be able to create page templates using widgets within a site as well.
We consider doing this improvement ASAP is important because the current situation is causing confusion among early adopters who perceived the page templates in global and sites as two different things since they are created in very different ways (widgets vs fragments).
Add support for creating page templates with widgets within each site. These page fragments would coexist with page templates created as content pages within each collection.
To choose which type to use, the + button would show a dropdown with two options:
- Widget Page (New)
- Content Page (Existing behavior)
The type of page should be shown below the name of the page template when showing the list of cards of a collection both in the management view and in the page template selection (when creating a new page).
Since adding support for creating Page Templates as Content Pages in global (it would imply also supporting fragments at the global level), as a temporary solution the "Page Templates" tab within "Site Pages" in global should be renamed as "Widget Page Templates"
