Reproduction steps:
1) Patch DXP with the latest fix pack and start the server, login as Admin
2) Go to left side Product Navigation Menu > DXP site > Content > Web Content
3) Add a new Basic Web Content
4) Click on the Schedule tab and then in the datepicker field for "Display Date"
5) Highlight today's date(that`s the default value) (CTRL+A) and blank it out (Backspace): date will become: mm/dd/yyyy
6) A calendar pop-up window should be opened already: select today's date into it
Expected: The date in the "Display date" field to become today's date
Actual behavior: the date will stay as mm/dd/yyyy. After choosing another date (e.g. tomorrow's), today's date will also work
