We currently keep metal as an external dependency that brings in some utility functions and base helpers.

This brings a bit of overhead both for the team maintaining and evolving it and for those needing to use its features, ask for improvements and track issues.

The goal of this epic is to streamline the less used metal dependencies and bring them into the Liferay Portal repo for simpler maintainability.
