      Motivation

See Epic (LPS-87072) and Spike (--LPS-95354--)for general AB testing motivation.

As of Liferay 7.2, content pages can be customized for different audiences by creating experiences. All pages have at least one experience, targeted for the “Default” audience (i.e. any visitor).

The purpose of an AB test is to find the page experience that maximizes a goal for a given audience, by comparing the performance of different experience variants during a time. Therefore the experience variant creation a critical part of the AB test definition process.

As occurs with experiences, marketers can customize any aspects of the page (content, widgets, layout, style) when creating a variant.

      Acceptance Criteria

      • Given: criteria #6 in LPS-97195
      • When editing a variant content
      • Then:
        • The user is brought to the Content Layout Editor
        • The title of the Editor is the Variant Name
        • There isn’t any Experiences Selector in the Editor
        • The Saving and Publish UI is related to Variants:
          • Save Variants Button
          • Discard Variant Button

      2. Selecting a Variant

      • Given: criteria #6 in LPS-97195
      • When selecting a Variant
      • Then:
        • The Variant appears as selected in the AB Test Sidebar
        • The Page Content rendered in out of the AB Test Sidebar is the one related to the selected Variant

      3. Edit a variant content (Save)

      • Given an AB test created for a experience with:
        • A section with a title
        • A section with an asset publisher
      • And a variant has been created and is on content edit mode
      • When changes are performed (any change supported by experiences, see documentation):
        • The title is changed respect to the Control
        • The asset publisher configuration changes (e.g. show print icon)
        • The title section is moved below the asset publisher section
        • The background color of the title section is changed
      • And the Save Variant button is clicked
        • Then the page exists the edit mode:
        • The AB test sidebar is shown
        • The control menu bar shows the name of the page
        • The page edit bar is hidden
      • And the page shows the changes for the variant

      4. Edit a variant content (Discard)

      • Given an AB test created for a experience and a variant has been created and is on content edit mode
      • When changes are performed (any) and the Discard Variant button is clicked
      • Then the page exists the edit mode and the page shows no changes for the variant
