I recently got some information from a team member in India about what customers are asking when they hear about LCS analytics and metrics services.
Here are the most common questions:
1) How many visitors visited portal(on daily, weekly and monthly basis)?
2) How much time is spent by each user on portal?
3) Visitors for each page?
4) What people are searching for on portal?
5) Count of hits per by each user on portal page?
When customers first hear the words "analytics" and "metrics" they think of user-specific data. However LCS does not store any user-specific information, only system-specific. This is because LCS maintains the privacy of the customer's users, this is also considered sensitive information and is not stored on the LCS platform.
This information about the purpose and type of data stored by LCS servers is not clearly stated anywhere (or at least I didn't find it). I think it's good to add 1-2 sentences at the beginning of https://customer.liferay.com/documentation/7.0/deploy/-/official_documentation/deployment/using-lcs#using-the-server-view
and on https://customer.liferay.com/documentation/7.0/deploy/-/official_documentation/deployment/using-lcs#what-lcs-stores-about-your-liferay-servers
