      Description

Description: The "Use LDAP Password Policy" information is vague. In more than one instance, after reading this section clients have come to believe that Liferay will inherit and enforce the password policy of the LDAP server when this option is selected. This is not the case. The following LPPs are good examples of the issue as well as an explanation of the expected behavior:

      -LPP-23207-
      LPP-26349

      Document in question:

      https://dev.liferay.com/discover/deployment/-/knowledge_base/7-0/ldap

      https://customer.liferay.com/documentation/7.0/deploy/-/official_documentation/deployment/ldap

      Key line in question:

"Liferay does this by parsing the messages in the LDAP controls returned by your LDAP server."

Liferay does not parse the LDAP server's password policy according to the comment in -LPP-23207-.

      Action Items:

      • Correctly reword this line to be more clear to the customer. See LPP tickets above for more context.
