      Description

For to 7.2 and above Liferay a new feature was added to remove data associated to archives plugins/modules that don't exist anymore.

      The list of plugins/modules is:

      • Chat
      • Invitation
      • Mail Reader
      • Private Messaging
      • Shopping
      • Twitter

But we are going to promote to add more in the future.

We should document how to use this feature for those customers who don't need these plugins anymore (customers can still use them if they download the source code and upgrade and maintain the plugins but it's not common)

To enable the removal of the data they can:

      1. Before the upgrade: add the ArchivedModulesUpgradeConfiguration config file in the osgi/configs folder setting true for the cases they want to remove (see attachment).
      2. During the startup: they can add the config file and restart the server to execute the removal. They can also configure it from control panel (see screenshot).

After this, they should remove the config file or uncheck the options from control panel.
