When talking this one over with Bryan in the Forum: http://www.liferay.com/web/guest/community/forums/-/message_boards/message/2910886#_19_message_2997890

We decided to wait until post Beta 2 for this kind of enhancement. I will also work with the original requesters to see if we can come up with some better requirements as well.

Now that Social Office supports friending I think I could see this working like this:

1.) Put a Status Update box on the User's Home page as seen in the Mockup photo.
2.) When someone update's their status it would appear in Social Activity under Me.
3.) The status for anyone that I have friended would then show up in My Friends.

        Hey Jamie,

I'm changing the version number because 1.5.0 has a feature freeze.
So we'll put this in the next version of Social Office.

        Thanks!

        Hi Ryan,

I figured it would be a post 1.5.0 feature. At the moment am I soliciting feedback in the EAP forum to see how others thinks this should work. As we get things figured out I will be sure to update this ticket.

        Jamie,

Thanks for your feedback and suggestions. We have made many of the improvements that you have suggested in the 2.0 version of the product, including the addition of microblogging capabilities. I encourage you to download the latest alpha release (end of July) and review the latest enhancements.

        Cheers
